BASX Solutions Breaks Ground on a New Welding Facility

Bend Office, Local Community, Project

BASX Solutions, a high-efficiency HVAC manufacturing company based in Redmond, Oregon, has broken ground on what will become a new welding shop building at the north end of their campus. Since converting the old Redmond Walmart into manufacturing space in 2014, BASX Solutions has been continuously expanding their assembly space to accommodate the increasing demand for their HVAC products which are often installed in large data centers owned by Intel, Microsoft, and other technology companies. They are now one of the largest employers in the Central Oregon region with over 500 local employees—200 of which were hired in the past year.

The new welding shop space will be approximately 36,000 square feet and is anticipated to open in 2024. When it does, BASX will be able to double its welding staff and streamline its operations with new equipment and an efficient workflow, something that has been difficult to achieve in their current, cramped space. The new shop is not only critical to supporting BASX Solutions growth trajectory, but also to maintaining the continued health and safety of its employees by providing a better work environment.

Our Role

Ashley & Vance Engineering was on hand for the recent groundbreaking ceremony and is providing the structural engineering design for the new BASX welding building. The new welding facility will feature a pre-engineered steel framed structure with steel canopies, a bridge crane, and specialty equipment mounted on a reinforced slab on grade.

Because BASX will be installing specialized manufacturing equipment in the new facility, additional mechanical coordination ensured the design would meet these unique requirements. Collaborative meetings, as well as direct work with consultants, have been key to completing the design and detailing process. Having worked on several BASX Solutions projects over the last decade, John Fischer of the AV Bend Office adds, “We really enjoy working with BASX project managers. They are engineers and builders at heart, which fits us perfectly!”

AV was excited to be a part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new BASX facility and is looking forward to our continued partnership with this great company.

AV’s past BASX projects include:
