We outgrew our previous space but are staying local!
Our new home is on Telegraph Avenue where multiple cranes are hard at work redefining and updating the downtown Oakland skyline. This popular area for professionals, students, tourists, and locals puts us in the middle of all the action (but across the street from BART for easy access, of course). Stop by to say hello and see the busy streets from our second-story abode. For now, you can check out our favorite office features!
Meet with the team—Our conference room includes our library of reference books and documents, ample tabletop space for spreading out construction documents, and even a foosball table for a friendly (and extremely competitive) lunchtime competition or two. This window overlooks the city’s popular Telegraph Ave where you can see some of the many changes happening to the downtown Oakland skyline.
One of our projects is part of the changes to the Bay Area horizon. President of Ridgemont Hospitality, Drhuv Patel, was a pleasure to work with on this new Hampton Inn by Hilton. This new city center location is a seven-story hotel project just around the corner from the office featuring 122 guest rooms, restaurant, lobby, pool, and mezzanine opening Summer 2019.
See Telegraph Ave—Our new office occupies the second floor of a retrofitted Unreinforced Masonry (URM) building which keeps it in line with the amazing character of downtown Oakland. Our neighbors above us are a full service architecture and interior design firm, Medium Plenty, so we have a lot to talk about. We are just one block away from the iconic Fox Theater and are excited to have so many city amenities just next door.
Visit us—This new space allows local team growth. Every work station is equipped with adjustable desks allowing each employee to personalize their space while remaining flexible for our visiting engineers from our other locations all over the West Coast. (You know who you are. You know the drill. Bring donuts...Please.)
You may also notice in this photo, the large sliding barn door to a ...sealed entryway? This access way in the original design of the building was sealed during the seismic retrofit of the whole structure. Seismic retrofitting on these old masonry-style buildings is required, but also necessary. With earthquake devastation in downtown Napa a few years ago, we hope to not see that repeated. While it is not the ideal design solution to just seal unused space, it’s a great reminder to look at what our engineering solutions could be in order to maximize use of the square footage or be more aesthetically pleasing. For now, we can use the barn door as an oversized magnetic message board. When life gives you lemons...
