One of our projects, selected as a feature in the AIASB (American Institute of Architects, Santa Barbara Chapter) ArchitecTours last month, is this multi-family affordable housing development. All units here at Jardin de Las Rosas, are rented to new residents as of Spring 2018. People’s Self Help Housing worked with Peikert + RRM and Ashley & Vance Engineering, to develop the 40-unit apartment complex and amenities for families focusing on GreenPoint standards. These standards have the goal of making homes healthy, comfortable, durable, and resource efficient.
The three-story complex also features community spaces including the Michael Towbes Community Center and Jeanette Duncan Learning Center, a welcoming courtyard with children’s outdoor play structures, a 35-foot mural by local artists, and laundry facilities with Energy Star appliances. The building utilizes fire resistant materials and includes a first-story garage parking area.
