Domaine Serene Wine Lounge

Bend, Oregon

Project Stats

Built in 1917, the historic Spheir building in Downtown Bend, Oregon has served many functions over the years. Most recently in 2021, the space was transformed into the Domaine Serene Wine Lounge. Ashley & Vance Engineering provided structural engineering services on this unique restoration project which required integrating the original basalt basement, century-old roof trusses, district brick walls, and other historic features with steel columns, cantilevers, and modern structural engineering techniques. To keep the antiqued look of the original space, the construction team made painstaking effort to distress all visible wood surfaces and the attention to detail is felt throughout the building. The finished product not only maintains the historic integrity of the building but fully transforms the space into a world-class wine destination.
