Fountaingrove Passive House
Project Stats
Rising from the site of a home lost in the 2017 Tubbs Fire, this Santa Rosa residence represents the future of resilient, eco-friendly living. Our team provided specialized structural engineering to help this home achieve rigorous Passive House Certification, a standard reserved for the world’s most energy-efficient buildings. To meet airtightness requirements, we engineered a sophisticated double-wall system using staggered studs and a high-performance insulated slab-on-grade foundation. This clever structural design eliminates thermal bridges, keeping the home naturally warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Beyond energy performance, the home features striking architectural elements as well as complex prefabricated roof truss system and a striking, custom-engineered steel staircase that serves as a modern focal point. By carefully detailing every structural intersection, we ensured the building envelope remains airtight and durable. The result is a beautiful, ultra-low-energy home that offers the homeowners superior air quality, exceptional thermal comfort, and the peace of mind that comes with a truly resilient structure.
