SLO Mosque of Nasreen

The Mosque of Nasreen is a mixed-use project that won an award for its contemporary take on Islamic architectural heritage. The project includes two studio apartments and was designed to fit on a steep and narrow urban residential neighborhood. Our team was responsible for the structural design, which included incorporating car stackers – a first for any Ashley & Vance Engineering project. We paid special attention to coordinating the building’s foundation and water pools to create the illusion of the structure “floating.” Additionally, we carefully considered the structural detailing to accommodate the mathematical geometry that is significant to Islamic culture. And let’s not forget designing the minarets – a classic element that everyone can enjoy!
